Some folk may be aware of the over winter stoppages along the Staffordshire & Worcester canal.

Firstly. There was damage at Penkridge Lock 38 (by The Boat Public House) The bywash at the lock had collapsed and required extensive repair and rebuilding. This was completed ahead of the May schedule and is now up and running.

Additionally. Two further scheduled stoppages over the winter in Penkridge were put in place to replace the lock gates on Lock 36 & 37. We're pleased to report that these works, were again, completed on time at the start of the 2026 boating season.

Well, we've been beavering away over the winter. Our annual trip to Stafford Boat Club for painting and blacking was interrupted by the winter canal stoppages. But we've managed to get around that issue.

Engine servicing is due in the next week. That also includes a test of the batteries, as well as electrics, oil, filters and pumps.

Internal refurbishments are moving along. A new fridge-freezer, rear deck seating and other little touches to keep Maddison looking good. 

So all in all, we're very happy with our preparations for the upcoming boating season.😀
